The Sunny Doula

Hi There,
I'm Ava a newly certified birth and postpartum Doula. I believe every mom and family deserves the top level of care and support possible through the most changing and beautiful times of their life. The passion I have for helping mothers and children stretches further than surface level, but includes meeting you exactly wherever you are (physically and emotionally) and going from there. I'm not just here to support your birth and new baby, but here to nourish you, foster confidence, and leave you feeling loved and cared for in all aspects of your life. Its true when they say it takes a village, and I'm grateful every day I get to be apart of that village for families.
Certifications:
What is a doula- and do i need one?
A doula is "a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible." (DONA 2025).
Doulas provide hands on care for labor, birth, and the postpartum period. This can look like encouraging words and healing hands during labor, a familiar face and education during delivery, and emotional support as well as practical help during the postpartum period.

"I already have had kids, and have family support. I don't think having a doula applies to me". Whether this is your 1st journey to parenthood, or your 8th, a Doula is beneficial in so many ways. We not only support moms, but having a doula can...
-Reduce likelihood for interventions during birth
-Can increase APGAR scores for baby
-Reduce use of Pitocin
-Create a better birth experience/memories
-Increase natural birth experiences
-Support family bonding
-Improve relaxation and comfort
-Provide lactation support
-Decrease anxiety
-Improve prenatal and postpartum mental health.
No matter where you are in your motherhood journey, a Doula can support you and your family through the most pivotal transitions in your life.
