The Sunny Doula
Birth Doula
A birth doula is a trained professional who offers continuous physical, emotional, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, and the early moments after birth. Our role is to guide and empower families through every step of the journey by making them feel confident, supported, and heard. A birth doula helps foster an environment where you can feel supported and have most satisfying birth experience possible. We are here to honor your preferences, protect your peace, and reminds you that you are never alone.

Postpartum Doula
A postpartum doula is a trained professional who supports families as they adjust to life with a new baby, recognizing the evolving needs that come with this tender transition. Guided by the eleven domains of postpartum care, a postpartum doula promotes healthy, evidence-based practices that help families recover, bond, and thrive. With gentle guidance, reassurance, and practical support, they create a nurturing environment where parents feel confident, cared for, and never alone in their journey into new parenthood.

Hi I'm Ava, Its so nice to meet you.
Birth and Postpartum Doula
Hi! My name is Ava and I'm a certified birth and postpartum doula through DONA. I think pregnancy, birth, and welcoming a new human are one of the coolest and strongest things a woman can do. I'm in awe every day of women, their bodies, and how much they can endure. I became a Doula not to only help women, but be apart of the village that truly makes a difference in their lives.
I chose the name "The Sunny Doula" as a way to honor what I love and what it stands for. I've always loved sunflowers and sunshine, and believe everyone needs a little bit of sunshine at a time of need or adjustment. Outside of doula work, I'm a part time nanny and own my own nanny placement service! I love being outside as much as possible, reading a good book, or spending time with the people I love.
I cant wait to speak with you and be apart of this journey with you, Its an absolute honor.
Benefits of having a Doula
Emotional Support
Doulas provide emotional support to the birthing mom by offering steady reassurance, encouraging words, and a calming presence through every wave of labor.
In the postpartum period, they nurture families with compassion, active listening, and non judgmental guidance to help parents feel understood, and confident in their new role.
Physical Support
During birth, doulas offer physical support through comfort measures like positioning, counter pressure, massage, and helping create a calm, grounding environment.
In the postpartum period, they support families by assisting with mothers recovery and wellbeing, newborn care, feeding routines, and practical tasks that help parents rest and recover.
Educational Support
A birth and postpartum doula provides education that helps families understand their options, feel prepared, and make confident decisions. They teach practical skills while offering clear, non-judgmental guidance. This support reduces fear, builds confidence, and helps families navigate birth and early parenthood with knowledge and ease.
Family Adjustment
A birth doula helps the whole family on how to support, communicate, and stay calm. Their presence creates reassuring environment so everyone feels grounded and connected.
A postpartum doula supports the family as they adjust by helping establish routines, easing the load at home, and guiding parents and siblings through their new roles.
